We
would love to have you visit our church! Here are some
frequently
asked questions which you may find useful so you will know what to
expect.
- What
are your service times? On Sunday morning
we offer Sunday School for ages 2
through adult at 9:45. Our worship service is at 10:45 and lasts
approximately an hour. Nursery care is provided during both.
- What
other programs do you have during the week?
On Wednesday nights we have a small group Bible study/prayer
meeting as well as Kid's Quest . From 6:00pm until 6:30 we share an
informal fellowship time
where people bring their own meals and we share a dessert, then from
6:30-7:30 the adults meet for study and prayer whil children
Kindergarten through 5th grade go to Kid's Quest. Childcare for younger
children is provided. Click
here for our Church Calendar.
- What is
the worship like at your church? Our
goal in worship is to engage both our hearts and our minds in genuine
adoration
toward God. Our service is blended using both traditional
hymns and
contemporary praise songs. We use mostly piano, but incorporate more
instruments such as guitar, hammered dulcimer and trumpet.
Our worship service is content driven and includes elements such
as a Call to Worship, Confession of Sin, Assurance of Forgiveness and
Scripture Readings. We believe that the preaching of God’s Word is
central to all that we do,
making the sermon an important part of every service. Click here
for a sample order
of worship.
- What
should I wear if I visit?
At our church you will find some people dressed casually and
some wearing a coat and tie. Feel free to wear whatever makes
you comfortable. 1 Samuel 16:7 says, "Man looks on the
outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart." Our desire is to
do the same.
- Do
I have to give money if I visit the church? Offering
a portion of what we have earned
back to God is an important part of worship, but as a visitor there is
no
expectation placed upon you to give to the work of Trinity Fellowship
Church.
During the service an offering plate will be passed down the row – feel
free to
pass it on to the next person without obligation. Better yet,
fill out a visitor card and put it in the plate so we will know you
visited!
- What is the PCA? PCA stands
for the Presbyterian Church in America, the denomination which we
are a part of. There are many denominations which are called
"Presbyterian." The name is related to the Greek word for "elder" and
refers to the fact that our churches are led by a session or council of
elders. These elders are Godly men who have been elected from the
congregation and ordained to serve as leaders. The PCA was
started in 1973 in order to have a Presbyterian denomination that has a
high view of God's innerant Word, that is clear in teaching Reformed
theology, and that is uncompromisingly missional in our outlook to
the world.
- What is Reformed theology?
At its root, it is the theology that came out of the Protestant
Reformation. You may have heard of the Five Solas of the Reformation,
"sola" is a Latin term meaning "only" or "alone." The Reformers
affirmed that we are saved by grace alone, through faith
alone, in Christ alone and that the rule for our faith is
Scripture alone, and all of this is to the glory of God alone.
- Do
you serve communion?
Yes.
We celebrate two sacraments that Jesus instituted for
the church:
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, or communion. Communion is
served on the
first Sunday of the month. Because it is the Lord’s Table, we
welcome all
baptized Christians to receive communion with us, who are willing to
forsake
their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and have been
admitted
to the Lord's Table at this or any other Christian church. If
this
does not describe you, we ask you to let the elements pass you by.
- Do
you let children take communion? Our
church
doesn’t set an age requirement on anyone to take part in
communion,
but we do ask that if you would like your children to participate, that
they
first meet with a church leader to talk about their faith in Christ and
what
communion means.
- What do
children
do during the service? We
believe it is important for children to worship God alongside their
families as
they grow in their faith. We offer a nursery for infants and
toddlers, but
we encourage parents to bring older kids into the service with them. We
also
recognize that every family is different and every child is different,
so it is
up to individual parents to determine when their children are ready to
participate in the service. Children
in
the service are given a Children's Bulletin
that contains the words to songs we are singing and a Bible word-find
based on our passage. The Children's Bulletin also has a simple sermon
outline to help them follow along with the pastor and it contains age
appropriate questions for them to think about in order to apply the
sermon in their own lives.
